Women's Homeless Shelter (Caryn)

Residential Design Class:
This assignment was one that was near and dear to my heart. There were a couple of different media and home based elements involved. During our Residential Design II course we were asked to research non-profit organizations that assisted homeless Americans. We were to learn about the different elements, requirement and foundations that would support a homeless person. During this particular research time frame, I got a call from someone stating that they had seen my very own sisters for the past three days pregnant and sleeping on a bench. This motivated me to one help her and really take this assignment by the helm. We had to design a homeless shelter out of foam core board and design the interior using our media elements. The roof of my homeless Shelter, if ever made would automatically roll into a spindle (just like a garage door would) and it would be a very open and small home so the homeless person could reflect and open up any emotion, pain or fear they had within themselves to possibly help them recover from whatever was stopping them from the life they deserve. So I dedicate this project to my sister Caryn!
